Hello EV Drivers!
We’re so excited that you’re joining us for this year’s Drive Electric Week and bringing your EV or PHEV!
Just as a reminder, the event is this Saturday, April 20, 2019, 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Guthrie Green, 111 East Reconciliation Way (formerly M.B. Brady St.), Tulsa, OK. The EV/PHEV Display will take place at the Wallace Engineering parking lot adjacent to Guthrie Green, located at 200 East Reconciliation Way – lot is outlined in red below, and entrances are on the west side.
Since you have signed up to be a part of the EV /PHEV display, we are asking that you arrive by 12:45 so we can get the display arranged before the event begins. If you are going to be late, or if your plans have changed and you are not able to join us, please let me know by email [email protected] or text 405.408.5822.
At this time, we are planning on having all privately owned cars parked and on display. We will offer test drives of the cars from local dealerships. This decision was made for your safety, and the safety of the attendees. However, frequently when we do these types of events, some dealers do not show up. If this is the case, we may ask a few of you to offer test rides (not drives) in your cars, if you are willing. We hope this will not be needed, but are keeping the option open just in case. All drivers will need to show a drivers license and sign a waiver prior to test rides/drives.
You will control the access to your car. We encourage you to let people sit in the car so they can get a feel for them. But, if you’d rather, you can have your car locked and just stand next to it. Please remove all valuables from your car, especially if you will let people sit in it. People frequently also want to look in the truck and under the hood, so you might be prepared for that as well. I’ll be washing, vacuuming, and decluttering my EV to get it ready for all the attention it will receive this weekend!
Please also have your car fully charged if you have less than 150 miles of battery range. Depending on your car, it is likely to lose a substantial range by having the doors open and people entering/exiting repeatedly, so plan accordingly!
The following plug-in vehicles are scheduled to be on display, with owners available to answer questions about EV driving and ownership in Tulsa: Chevy Bolt EV, Chevy Volt PHEV, BMW i3, Ford Fusion Energi, Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid, Nissan LEAF, Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model X, and Mercedes Benz B-Class Electric Drive.
Test drives/demos will be available on site from local car dealerships for the Chevy Bolt EV and Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-in Hybrid.
We are still in need of a few volunteers to help us make the day a success. The primary need is for you to stand by your car and talk about how great EVs are. But if others are coming with you and they are interested in volunteering, please email me at [email protected]. Volunteer jobs will include directing traffic, assisting with sign-in for the test drives, etc. If possible, we’d like volunteers and EVs to arrive by 12:45 and stay for the whole event. But if you can only be there for part of it, that is fine as well, just let me know so we can plan accordingly.
And finally, we’d love your help in spreading the word. Please consider sharing this Facebook event link on your profile: https://www.facebook.com/events/299436857362494/
